Here at Horseshoe Ridge RV Resort, the shortest honest answer is that you need less than most cabin packing lists suggest. Our luxury cabin rentals in Wimberley, TX already include all linens, bath towels, a fully equipped kitchen, and bath essentials.
Your list is really about clothes, food, medications, and the personal items nobody else can supply.
Pack clothes in layers, groceries, medications, and your pool and trail gear. Skip the sheets, towels, cookware, and toiletries, because our cabins already have them. Ready to book? Call 737-307-2288 or reserve online.
What's Already in Your Cabin
Our three cabins, Sea Biscuit, Secretariat, and The Mingo, are fully furnished rentals rather than bare-bones cabins. Each one arrives stocked, which is why the standard internet cabin checklist overpacks for a stay here.
| Already in the Cabin | Bring Your Own |
|---|---|
| Bed linens, bath towels, hand towels, washcloths, beach towels | Clothing, sleepwear, swimsuits |
| Full kitchen: oven, stove, microwave, refrigerator | Groceries and any specialty ingredients |
| Cookware, pots and pans, silverware, plates | Pantry extras you're picky about: coffee beans, oils, spices |
| Coffee to start the day | Medications and prescriptions |
| Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, blow dryer | Personal toiletries: toothbrush, contacts, skincare |
| Heating and air conditioning | Layers for cool evenings on the patio |
| Wi-Fi and a Smart TV with Netflix | Chargers, laptop, headphones |
| Private patio with outdoor furniture and a picnic table | Pool towels if you'd rather not use ours, plus water shoes |
The Sea Biscuit cabin is a good example of how the sleeping arrangements differ between units: a queen in the private bedroom, a king mattress in the open loft, and a full sleeper. Capacities vary by cabin, so check the individual page for the unit you booked.
The Short Cabin Packing List

What to Wear, Season by Season
Wimberley sits in the Texas Hill Country between Austin and San Antonio, and the practical packing question is usually layers rather than gear. Hill Country weather can shift quickly, so check current conditions before day trips.
| Season | What to Plan For | Pack |
|---|---|---|
| Spring | Warm afternoons, cooler evenings, wildflowers | Short sleeves, a light long sleeve, a windbreaker, walking shoes |
| Summer | Hot days and pool time | Breathable fabrics, two swimsuits, a wide-brim hat, water shoes, reef-safe sunscreen |
| Fall | Mild days, cool nights around the fire pit | A fleece or sweater, jeans, closed-toe shoes, a light jacket |
| Winter | Cool to cold nights, occasional freezes | Thermals, a warm hat, an insulated jacket, warm socks |
Cotton is fine for lounging on the patio. For walking the grounds or a day out, a moisture-wicking base layer dries faster and travels better.
Packing for the Pool, the Courts, and the Grounds
Our resort amenities shape this part of the list more than any generic checklist can. The pool is a 3,000 square foot heated resort-style pool with an in-pool shelf and tanning ledge, so swimsuits and a cover-up earn their space in the bag.
Two pickleball courts sit on the property, so bring a paddle and court shoes if you play often. Cornhole, fire pit areas, and an outdoor kitchen are on site as well, which makes a lawn game or a bag of marshmallows a better use of packing space than camping hardware.
Horseshoe Ridge sits within the Wimberley Valley, certified as an International Dark Sky Community by DarkSky International. A pair of compact binoculars and a red-light headlamp turn an ordinary evening on the patio into the best hour of the trip.
Bringing Your Dog
All of our cabins are pet-friendly, which shortens the decision considerably. Up to two pets per cabin are welcome, with a flat $50 pet fee covering up to two pets.
Pack the following:
A shaded dog park and dog-friendly walking trails are on site. Pets aren't permitted in resort buildings, restrooms, or inside the pool fence, so plan a shaded area and water for your dog during pool hours. Full details live on our resort rules and policies page.
Packing for a Family Weekend
Maximum occupancy is six people per site, cabins included, and guests beyond six are subject to the Day Pass Fee. Cabin capacities vary by unit, so confirm the sleeping arrangement for your cabin before you finalize the group.
For kids, the useful additions are a spare outfit per child, swim gear, a nightlight, and one familiar comfort item. Quiet hours run from 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM, and children under 14 need an adult with them anywhere on the property, including the pool.

Explore the Resort →Pack a couple of self-contained activities for the drive and the slow part of the afternoon. Cards, a puzzle, or a lawn game travel better than a bin of toys.
Working Remotely From a Cabin
Fiber Wi-Fi covers the property, and each cabin has a Smart TV, so the remote-work list is shorter than it looks. Pack the following:
A cellular hotspot is a reasonable personal backup if your work depends on being reachable during a specific window. A business center with a printer is available on site if you need to print something. Ethernet pedestals are located at select RV sites rather than in the cabins, so plan on Wi-Fi for a cabin stay.
What You Can Buy Here Instead of Packing
Our Trading Post inside the Amenity Center runs on a 24/7 honor system and stocks firewood, ice, drinks, snacks, coffee, ice cream, and RV supplies. Coin laundry with commercial-grade washers and dryers means you can pack for three days rather than seven.
Worth knowing before you pack a fire kit: only propane fire pits are permitted at the sites, and open flames and charcoal grills aren't allowed, given the fire danger and drought conditions in Central Texas.
Downtown Wimberley is a short drive for groceries and anything you forgot. For day trips, our Hill Country attractions near the resort page is a better planning tool than a packing list.
Before You Leave Home
Five minutes of confirmation saves an hour of improvising.

Billy Rhyne owns and runs Horseshoe Ridge RV Resort. Day to day, that means making sure every full-hookup site is level, every cabin's ready, and every rig rolling through Wimberley feels like it found a home base in the Hill Country. Billy and his family took on a piece of Hill Country history — a 31-acre spread that spent a century as a racehorse training ranch, shaded by around 350 ancient oaks with 15-mile views — and turned it into a modern, 124-site RV resort without losing what made the land special. He stays hands-on with the place: checking pedestals, talking setups with guests pulling in off a long haul, and running all 124 sites and three cabins the way he'd want them if he were the one parking for the night. On the blog, Billy writes about RV travel, big-rig-friendly stays, and the small stuff that makes a Texas trip easier. When he's off the clock, he'll point you toward the Devil's Backbone drive at sunset or a cool-off at Blue Hole just up the road.
